You say “two eggs, a slice of wholemeal bread and a coffee”. The app finds each food in the Swiss food composition database and does the maths.
- Spoken or typed.
- A photo of a plate, a recipe or a label.
- Scan a barcode and read its review: good choice, now and then, best avoided – with an alternative.

“Tell me”, the assistant
You write or talk to it as you would to a person. It logs what you ate and answers your questions with today’s numbers.
- “I’m hungry, what can I eat?”
- Ideas from the recipe library that fit what you have left.
- It also logs your workouts and weigh-ins.

- A shopping list in the aisle order of your shop, with an estimated price.
- Your favourite recipes, a recipe library and a lighter version of any dish.

What about the Apple Watch?
Not for now, and not Apple Health either. A Fitbit, yes: steps, active minutes, sleep and resting heart rate come into the app.
Which languages?
English, French, German and Italian. The app follows your phone’s language; you can change it in Settings. “Tell me” answers in your language.
Do I have to weigh my food?

With Infomaniak, in Switzerland. In Settings › Account you can export your data to a file or delete your account: everything is erased straight away.
Does AfterStart replace medical advice?
No. It’s a wellbeing app and makes no diagnosis. If you have a particular health situation, talk to your doctor.
What is the minimum age?
18. The app calculates calorie deficits, which are not suitable for a body that is still growing.
